baby update: weeks 21, 22, 23

update: week 21
holy cow this past week has been exciting! i've been stuck up on cloud nine in excitement over the discovery of this baby being a girl!! on the gunter side of my family, i am one of 11 granddaughters (with only16 total grandchildren) AND the oldest of four daughters in my immediate family. on the babb side of my family, every single person started their family with a girl- including my grandma kris. so really, it should be no surprise! needless to say, i definitely feel like i know more about baby girls! :) but another exciting thing about this week has been how much movement has really started! i definitely feel little kicks and bumps throughout the day, but lots of times at night around ten or eleven, this girl goes nuts. i can literally watch my stomach ripple with movements. it's not just the little nudges throughout the day, this girl wakes up at nighttime. i don't even mind that i'm having a harder time getting to sleep because i can't get over how stinkin' awesome it is to feel her moving! she is alive and strong and active! a healthy and happy angel! drake and i shared a laugh that she is already on a backwards sleeping schedule and we're going to have our work cut out for us. drake and most of the aunts and uncles have felt her move by now. it has affected everyone the same way it has me: she is alive and real and happy and moving! drake and i are almost certain that we've picked her name: Zenna Nicole May. our baby's two oldest aunts are Dassia Zen (Zen being after her grandma Zenith) and Bailey Nicole. dassia is drake's sister and bailey is my sister. because we wanted to take a family name and tweak it a little bit, a tradition in drake's family, we chose to add the -na to Zen and viola! we have Zenna. then, the name Nicole after my sister just seemed to fall right in and flow off the tongue. baby zenna nicole may just seems like the perfect fit for this tiny little angel and i can't wait to hold her and make sure that's who she is! i love you zenna nicole! i'm really started to bump out there too. on multiple occasions this week, drake has looked at me with a surprised look on his face and said that it's just weird seeing me look so pregnant haha. yup, i'm pregnant, babe- over five months pregnant! i'm sure he'll continue to find himself in shock as i continue to get even bigger and rounder! i feel very happy and blessed to be able to work through this time also. towards the beginning of the pregnancy, i was concerned i'd never feel well enough to keep a job or go long enough without getting sick to take a shift, but i didn't need to worry because i am comfortable and energized enough and to spare to be able to work in the preschool, and i honestly do love my work. this week has been a good one for sure!
update week 22:
this week just flew by! i am honestly loving being pregnant at this point. i'm in the golden stage. no sickness anymore, and no soreness yet. i'm trying to enjoy it all. baby zenna has begun to move a little more often! i feel her mostly at night when i'm lying flat in bed. it's not enough to keep me from sleeping though. i know to expect a lot more as she continues to get bigger. it's still a pretty lucky day for anyone to feel her. usually she just gets me good once or twice, then i don't feel her that much anymore. she doesn't move enough for me to know whether she's awake or sleeping, but i keep watching that ultrasound video in awe at how much she is moving all the time... i just can't feel it yet! all in all... great week!
update: week 23
honestly, things are about the same. i'm trying not to count weeks too much as i'm already too excited. yes, i'm over halfway but i'm as anxious as ever to finally be a mama! this week i did get hit with something though that caused terrible congestion and a sore throat. congestion is not fun ever, and especially while pregnant because you're already producing more blood and semi-congested in your nasal cavities anyway! plus, ibuprofen is a no-no and how the heck am i supposed to get rid of this stinkin' swelling without ibuprofen?! so i literally have nasal spray and nasal strips to ease my nightly torture, but that's honestly almost no good, and i can't sleep because i can't breathe and i can't get enough snot out of me to make a difference either. so, i'm eager for that to go away, but it's still been a good week. she's moving enough now that other people are beginning to feel her too. bailey and zane have got good feels, drake has too, but she still doesn't like to do too much at one time. you've basically got to be lucky and happen to be touching me in order to feel the first one or two. everyone is anxious to get their hands on my belly, of course. i don't really mind. i've never been too against touchy feely people. i grew up with all sisters for the most part! another thing about pregnancy: the nosebleeds! i went to the pool and was hit with a massive nosebleed. i mean their was gallons of blood in my lap within a second... luckily it came out of my swimsuit :) coming up on six months! what?!
