this summer has surely been busy. we've done a lot of fun things (not anything like honeymooning in vegas for 10 weeks last summer haha, but more "real-life" fun in idaho) like going to the pool with family, watching countless hours of siblings' baseball/softball or flag football or dance performances, or gardening in my backyard. but those things have to be literally scheduled into our increasingly busy schedule.
my work schedule starts at noon until six monday-friday. i'm not complaining there, other than every single day involves me finding a carpool between my mother, sister, or husband. drake's day starts much earlier (7:30) so riding into town with him is usually my very last option. but because he goes into town earlier and starts his work sooner, he is also off around 1:30. so if he doesn't have a baseball game to coach in town (which the season is over now) he'd like to get home asap instead of waiting for me to get off work at 6. so, sometimes i'm searching for yet another carpool! we've discussed purchasing another cheap car, but honestly, i'm not sure we could afford the gas of sending two cars into town every day (thirty minutes one way!) so carpooling is still our best option. and we are very blessed to be surrounded by family members that can help us out! usually, it's no problem as long as i'm on the ball and schedule everything the night before. also, drake works the heaviest on weekends. friday, saturday, and sunday nights. ouch. i have weekends off and daydreams of camping trips with my husband! so, he usually misses all the fun of weekends. even worse is if he picks up extra shifts in the morning on those days. it's hard to complain about such a hardworking man though! i love and appreciate that i know he is such an amazing supporter for us financially. i've just had to toughen up and postpone some of my still-kinda-newly-married-fantasies.
however, yesterday we had an amazing saturday together. he still went to work from four until midnight, but we got soooo much accomplished before that. drake mowed the yard while i deep-cleaned our car including vacuuming with the shop vac in our borrowed garage and stealing my mother's interior leather cleaner. then, i cleaned and sanitized all the new baby things given to us (zane gets the best-brother-in-law award this time! big time!). we were given a carseat, stroller, two high-chairs, and a swing. pretty much the motherload. it had all been sitting in a garage for enough time to accumulate some cobwebs and dirt, but i didn't care in the slightest! i just saved hundreds of dollars! so i gave everything a good scrub and drake did the heavy lifting. i was even able to keep the weekly laundry going all day! :) it's rare for us to even share a meal together, so the fact that i was able to make us a pretty delicious meal after our hard work was icing on the cake. drake did some homework before he left for work, and we both felt like we had had a great, productive day together.
we are so a married couple now. our great day together consists of working around the house and yard, but we did enjoy it! i rode into town with drake and dropped him off at work so that i could meet my mom, sister, and aunt becky for a movie at 4:30 and although i wished drake could have been there too, i was still happy with our morning and afternoon together. i guess it's just a part of growing up and being adults!
