it's summer time, and father's day

summer is officially here! i love idaho summers. it's hot and sunny in the day, but cools down at night. we missed that in vegas! it's still hot when it's dark, and that just feels wrong! :) but this summer has already been pretty fun for us.
we are really busy. drake works six days a week, with wednesdays off. awesome. i work monday through friday, thankfully with weekends off! and we're always in town all day long! but we've still managed to squeeze some fun into the last couple weeks.
i help with josey's 4-h club. i seriously wish there was such thing as adult 4-h. i would so ride my horse and compete still!! it's one of those things that when you're living it as a teenager, you don't realize how awesome and fun it is, and how much you love it. having horse and pig 4-h are seriously some of my favorite childhood memories. so it's been fun to get a little more involved again with josey. she's a really great little rider, and she has a good horse! i've been down to the arena with her and given pointers here and there. the club is really small now, i guess the interest has gone down a lot, and it is a lot of hard work, but it sure is fun to be part of! josey made a few little adjustments after i offered some tips, and then did exactly what we wanted to see! i have loved being a part of it again, and i probably won't have to miss too much of fair this year either! being 8 months pregnant at fair sounds like a blast!
another fun part of summer is the swimming pool in lava hot springs. of course. as a child, it was the best part of summer. i'm amazed at how children can swim in the blazing sun for seven hours straight, then scream about going home too early. it's exhausting! but it is a lot of fun, and we've already been twice! josey is old enough to be trusted quite a bit, and she even does the diving boards by herself! i remember loving that as a child. coleman still has the most fun where he can reach and dive for toys. he also like to play basketball in the deep end if he has a life jacket or tube and drake is with us :) lava also has great slides and i took cole and kali down them a few times- i was surprised at how fun they still are to me! this last trip, i did manage to get stung by a hornet. i will forever have more sympathy for kids that get stung! it didn't just sting for a second then go away, that sucker stung for several minutes! and a day later the swelling and irritation was still extremely bothersome. i had a pretty intense inflammatory reaction that spread several inches. bee stings suck. no fun. i also got a massive bloody nose and was most worried about staining my new swimsuit :) such a girl haha. luckily, my mother was there with her cold water bottle from the cooler and she just dumped it all down the front of me in order to get the blood out. she rocks. and my swimsuit is saved.
and finally, my family had a gardening day planting our favorite things in the garden. we've got green beans, peppers, tomatoes, pumpkins, squash, onions, corn, and potatoes. the corn has been a serious hit every year, so we made sure to plant plenty. everybody helped. my dad pushed this little contraption down the rows and made furrows, and we all took seeds and planted the rows. it honestly didn't take that long at all, and the garden is huge! we'll be eating the fruits of our labors soon! it was a lot of fun to do too. i didn't expect playing in the dirt to be that enjoyable!

also, today was father's day.
i love my daddy. he is the perfect grizzly teddy bear :) everyone is a little intimidated by him at first, and he can come off very scary at first, but he's a huge softy on the inside. everyone gets to see that really fast. i've learned a lot in my life from my daddy. i remember lessons about telling the truth growing up, and being true to who you are, and how to enjoy what life gives you. he works extremely hard and commutes over four hours every day! he raised his kids on camping, horse rides, fishing trips, boat trips, and bonfires in our backyard. i appreciate that life i was given so much. he probably doesn't know it, but he affected my testimony a great deal too. there have been a lot of prayers go up about my daddy... and i've gotten a lot of answers. i've learned that not everyone is perfect, and good people are good people. people who make mistakes are still good people, and we all make them! i've learned how to not judge and how to love people for exactly who they are. he's a great daddy and i love him very much. he's going to make a fabulous grandpa soon!
we let daddy choose his dinner and texas roadhouse it was. no complaining from anyone here!
