pretending to be rich...

this past week has definitely not been a frugal week. we always set good goals and follow a close budget... but this week has been a massive fail. fun, but a fail nonetheless. 

for starters, on wednesday, october 31 (the last day of october), i got my free-birthday-meal-to-tucanos-card in the mail. it had to be used during october... so for halloween we went to tucanos and it was drake's first time. we both tried chicken hearts! it is always a fun experience and we left with food comas. 

thursday after work i did not feel like cooking, and drake had mentioned how he'd been craving pizza for a few days, so i picked up our favorite papa johns pizza. yeah, we're fatties. 

friday was supposed to be date-night to applebees with a birthday gift card, we decided not to go since we'd eaten out twice that week... but then drake's friend called and invited us to go out. we decided on buffalo wild wings... and i would never, ever, ever turn down bww. 

then, my very special and exciting birthday gift from drake was tickets to a traveling cirque du soleil performance in salt lake. he bought them for sunday haha. don't worry, we received consequences. as we were leaving for the show, drake had the garbage in his hands and said "hey, lock the door on the way out." i said "okay, do you have the keys?" he kinda checked, but his hands were full and he remembered picking them up, so he said "yeah." so i proceeded to follow him out and lock the doors. well... turns out, he'd set the keys down and forgotten. great, we were stuck outside our apartment and the car keys were inside. after feeble attempts to break through a window, we called up my most amazing best friend and asked to borrow her car for the evening (thankfully we already had the tickets). so we postponed breaking-and-entering into our own apartment and enjoyed an amazing night watching the absolutely mind-blowing cirque du soleil show. it really was incredible! 

then, after several attempts we finally looked up our landlords in a phonebook, called them at home, and they graciously helped us back into our apartment with no broken locks or shattered glass :) overall however, the night was great! i have a fantastic life and my husband deserves an award for tonight!
