week four of thankful november

friday, november 23, 2012: i am grateful for how close we live to our families (185 miles) so that when holidays come around, we are able to visit our families. i've never missed a thanksgiving with my family, OR the black friday adventures. this year i got sooo much for drake at such a good price. i love spoiling him :)
saturday, november 24, 2012: i am also extremely grateful for drake's family. i married into an amazing family! i love how outgoing and fun they are. we always play games when we get together, not to mention the movies we make! over our thanksgiving break, i had the most fun videoing their movies. also his extended family has wrapped me into their open arms and called me one of their own. i love and appreciate them too. they are amazing examples to me of living lives full of faith in Christ.
sunday, november 25, 2012: today is our six month anniversary. holy cow that half-year went so quickly. i have loved every single day falling in more and more love with this handsome man. he is nothing but supportive, optimistic, loving, generous, and helpful towards me. i love his happy outlook on life, and how he really does complete me in the ways i lack. i love his sense of humor, and i'm grateful for it in our home. after this past rough couple weeks, he has been amazing and taken such amazing care of me. from cleaning up puke to checking on me in the night to bringing me plates of food, he has been by my side and amazing. i really do love him more than that day six months ago when we got sealed for eternity in a temple of the Lord.
monday, november 26, 2012: this day i am very grateful for the sweet professors at BYU. i was able to go to them honestly with personal concerns about attendance this week, and they were all very kind and supportive. i appreciate their gentle, understanding hearts and concern for me in my life right now. many of them offered spiritual, uplifting words of hope, and it really does make a significant difference knowing the people i'm gaining an education from see me as a daughter of God, and are filled with the light of Christ.
tuesday, november 27, 2012: i am grateful that we are now 100% self-reliant. over this break, we returned the white malibu i've had for three years back to my family so they can use it because we bought a car. we are now owners of 2006 chrysler sebring. it drives like my old red grand am from high school. it's heavy, solid, and sturdy. i like feeling protected and safe in it. it also has low mileage and we're hoping it lasts for us for many years. coming with the new car and being married, we're now paying for our own car insurance as well. oh the joys of growing up! although it's a lot of responsibility to take on for ourselves, it also feels pretty dang good. we surely couldn't afford all this without drake working so hard every day for us. i love that man and his desire to work hard enough to support us.

wednesday, november 28, 2012: i am grateful for my great friends. kendall invited me over for a movie night, and that girl time was much needed. she is the most amazing person to talk to, she has great perspective, and she has a way of cheering me up no matter what. we laugh together, tease together, and literally share brain waves. i love that girl to the moon and back.  and here's why!! she rented a puppy through a program at byu... so we got to play with a puppy all night!! definitely the perfect solution! then, there's jennica and lexi. i have gained these two great friends this semester and it has been nothing but fun. they are strong, faithful, fun girls and i've loved every minute with them! i even managed to convince jenna and kendall to skip our music class and go to target with me. this resulted in spending way too much money, AND a trip to arbys which required jenna to order through the back window that only rolls down half-way. then, they helped me decorate my cute apartment and hang up shelves. what amazing girls. i am soooo lucky to have them!!

thursday, november 29, 2012: i'm grateful for this adorable apartment we've been blessed to live in. it feels comfortable and walking in the door feels like coming home. i'm especially grateful for the little shopping spree i took myself on to target to buy cute things to decorate with. yay for the christmas spirit!

friday, november 30, 2012: finally, i am grateful for the words of the Lord's servants and the inspiration they bring. i am grateful to have these blessings in my life, and i try to take as much advantage of that as possible. when i browse through old talks, i am filled with the happy spirit of Christ, and i feel overwhelmed with gratitude for the knowledge i have. i feel blessed and happy at this point in my life, and i owe that to the decisions i've made along the way, and the decisions i've made have been mostly influenced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and i love that. the quote i posted today was by the prophet, President Monson: “Men are, that they might have joy.” I testify that much of that joy comes as we recognize that we can communicate with our Heavenly Father through prayer and that those prayers will be heard and answered—perhaps not how and when we expected they would be answered, but they will be answered and by a Heavenly Father who knows and loves us perfectly and who desires our happiness. Hasn’t He promised us, “Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers”?
