friday, november 16, 2012: today i am very. Very. VERY. thankful for my new umbrella because it was raining on campus. i got the umbrella because i've walked home in the rain already this semester. i was dripping, soaking wet and my toes felt numb. yeah, not that much fun. however today was less chilly to the bone and a little more enjoyable. it was even pretty outside. oh, also... we got a car :) but that's a surprise and i'll save it for another grateful day.
saturday, november 17, 2012: i got a beautiful picture message today from my beautiful sister, jessica kristine, and i realized how much i miss that spunky girl. last time i was home and had kidney stones, she was so sweet to me. when i woke up in the night she was still up after her date and drake summoned her to disturb my mom from her sleep. she immediately switched into her concerned, selfless self and was there offering help in any way. even from the bathroom floor i noticed when she never left the doorway. then, when we decided to head to the ER, she brought me shoes and sweats. not everyone knows this side of my sister, jessica, because she comes off confident, sassy, and lets be honest: dramatic. but i'm lucky to have such a sweet sister. this is the girl you can rely on for a laugh or a compliment. she is kind and gorgeous (inside and out). i love her spunk and zest for life. she makes our times together the best! i love you, sister!
sunday, november 18, 2012: well now that i'm thinking about family again (and counting down days until thanksgiving!) i've got to share my gratitude for my sister, bailey nicole. i've really, really, REALLY lucked out in the sister department. bailey is one of the best people i know. she is so creative and artsy. she took some of my engagement pictures, and holy wow. she also did my wedding cake, plus several other wedding cakes. amazing, right? she also has that "i'll take care of you" attitude that jessica possesses. we must have had good parenting. i can think of several times i called bop in tears and just needed her to listen to me vent so i'd feel better. i can remember a time when i was in tears (again, so i'm a little emotional) and she immediately took charge of the situation and fixed everything. i love this girl with all my heart and can't wait for all the fun we're going to have for the rest of our lives!
monday, november 19, 2012: i have a lot of siblings. it's great. i'm grateful that josey and cole entered into our family, even though they were both kind of surprises. there's five years between jessica and josey, then four years between josey and cole. there's a fourteen year difference between cole and me. they are so much fun! they are both such studs haha. we all LOVE going to cole's sporting events and cheering him on. he really is talented. fond memories are of him peeing off third base in tee-pitch and screaming at his coaches from the soccer sidelines. he is definitely competitive. i also adore how sweet he is with me, though, when we play together. he just wants me to know when i do something good have fun with him. i seriously can't get enough of that kid!
tuesday, november 19: then, there's josey. she's been a ball of red-headed spunk since the day she was born. i love how she's the only one to really get into horses as much as i did growing up. she's been to the blackfoot fair and loves riding as much as me. she also loves to read just like me. i've always been aware of how much she looks up to her older sisters, and i tried to set a good example for her. she also seems to want to come to byu one day. yay! she has so much attitude and confidence, i'm excited to see what the future brings for her.

wednesday, november 21, 2012: time for daddy. i really do have the best daddy in the world. he's a little girl's dream: big and tough, cuddly and warm, loving and protective. most people don't get to know his softer, family side because his blunt, loud, don't-give-a-damn attitude is pretty obvious. he's the life of the parties and you can always hear his exaggerated stories with ears listening from every angle. that's one of my favorite qualities in that man. his stories are the best. he memorizes poems about 'Ol' Red' the bronco that could never be rode to tell his babies, he retells our funny stories in a way no one can get enough, and he loves to be there in the center of attention. i love my memories of dancing to johnny cash or waylon jenninigs in our kitchen, or simply singing along with him. we had kid rock and sherrly crow's "picture" song pretty much mapped out, who sang what, as a kid. i love my memories of fishing, ice-fishing, camping, horse rides, and going along for the hunt. he put me on my first horse and those moments have been some of my most treasured. i love how that man defends his family sometimes to embarrassing extremes. he's the first one there at a sign of trouble, and he's driven us all into the ER in the middle of the night, if needs be. he's the first to suggest we drive in. he loves snuggling with his babies. there are stories of josey or cole waking up with deodorant streaked across their face becuase my daddy likes them tucked into his armpit all night. in elementary school, he'd let me skip a day or two here and there if i was just honest and said i didn't want to go. in high school, when drake broke my heart as a freshman, my dad picked me up from school with a coke and idaho spud. he took me on a drive and bad-mouthed drake the whole time :) he was just trying to make me feel better of course. this man doesn't just take care of his own family, if there's a neighbor in need, he's willing to throw his back out hauling wood or throwing horses in a trailer and flying up a mountain to help search for a missing boy. he is a great example to us all of loving our neighbors and demonstrating selfless acts of service. he might appear to have a short fuse, fiery temper, and grizzly-bear demeanor, but those who know him know he's the best teddy-bear father a girl could ask for. he's filled my life with those memories i love best. the camping, horseback rides, fishing, lake trips, and rodeos. i'm so grateful god sent me to this family so i could be so very blessed with such an awesome, fun, and caring father.
thursday, november 22, 2012: i have also, of course, been blessed with a gorgeous, funny, dedicated, loving, and generous mother. she is another huge example of selfless service. she is a nurse, and everyone in the valley knows. they call on her whenever they want someone in their family looked at, or even taken care of on a daily basis as she was involved with home health. she never hesitates going to someone's home to help them. she is really one of the most generous people i know. she is always willing to give and give to her family and friends. she bakes for people, sews for people, gives rides for people, and supports them however she can. i have so many memories of laughing and joking along with her. she is one of my best friends. she loves her babies more than anything and gives us everything she can. she is a good example of hardwork. she got through college with three babies, and it took her a while, but she did it. she has always done anything she's needed to do for her family. she has a soft and tender heart. i love how much she cares about people. she has blessed my life being a nurse, especially these last few weeks with kidney stones and other scares. she is an amazing supermom for sure.
