as may is drawing nearer to closing, we are getting more and more settled. i got a job at a daycare in pocatello called tykes time. it looks like i will be taking over preschool from noon-close and i'm pretty excited about it. activities after noon involve lunch, rest time, recess, and then some actual preschool-type activities. all of my education so far involves children older than five, but i've already learned that a lot of tactics are the same.
before i started work this past monday, i took a trip to provo and had a girls-weekend with kendall. she actually had to drive all the way to mccammon to pick me up because drake works all weekend and needed the car. she is the absolute greatest friend i could ever ask for! seriously, that is showing a lot of love! we have spent summers apart before, but this one feels a little more permanent i guess.

plus, i'm pregnant and my best friend isn't apart of every detail with me! the weekend was a perfect trip before i started work. it was an absolute blast! friday night we visited city creek in salt lake and i went to cheesecake factory for my very first time! i know, that's a little sad. but it was extremely delicious! i was amazed with how many different types of food they offered! and of course, we indulged in a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake... holy wow. i love love love cheesecake and this was top-knotch for sure! then, saturday kendall and i went to the airport in salt lake city to pick up devon and ali (our dear friends) returning from their second wedding/reception/honeymoon in taiwan and thailand! yeah, they're that lucky. we spent hours visiting them and hearing their incredible stories and adventures. we also ate zupas. another favorite that doesn't exist in idaho :( we also drove around looking at kittens for sale. kendall spent the entire weekend begging me for my kitty haha. yes, we took kitty along for our girls weekend and she received ample amounts of love. kendall fell in love with her playful, tigeristic personality, along with her sweet, cuddly side. saturday night also included a barbeque outside. the redferns (other dear friends) came over and i got to catch up with them a little bit too. the boys grilled steak and corn on the cob while the girls chatted. hanna is three months ahead of me in her pregnancy, and she doesn't have much further to go! i'm excited to have a friend's brain to pick to death after she delivers baby rylie jane. it was a good night. sunday was a sad day as kendall brought me back to idaho and we said our goodbyes. she is a definite soul sister and the best kind of friend you could ever hope for. there will surely be more weekends like that in the near future (hopefully my husband can join us!).
then, monday was another special day of love. drake's cousin amanda is married to marshall who is battling his second round of leukemia cancer. the mckee family all came together to put together a benefit for amanda and marshall. i was amazed at how many people showed up to show their love and generosity! there was a silent auction, as well as a raffle, and plenty of live entertainment. the night was full of baked goods, popcorn, music, dancing, magic entertainment, and memories. marshall and amanda surprised everyone by showing up unexpectedly and attending. it was a special night. i was very touched by how many people came through and dropped money in the box without being interested in the raffle tickets. they just wanted to give what they could. even drake and i made a donation of a GPS we've never opened because of our cellphones, and then we both bid on items at the silent auction. i bought a beautiful, fun white watch. it was a good night and a good reminder that life is full of good people. i was touched by all the love and support our community came together to show.
