this was definitely a big year for our growing family! it was a full year with fulfillment, trials, growth, excitement, and festivities! drake and i both feel extremely blessed with this point in our lives. it's not perfect, and nowhere where we'd like to be, but we're happy on the journey and faithful we're moving in the right direction! so thirteen memories for 2013...
1. the year started with the best possible news: we were pregnant! (again). after miscarrying our first pregnancy in november of 2012, we decided we didn't want to wait and wallow. we kept trying and were soon blessed with another pregnancy. although a little scared and nervous, we were mostly grateful and excited!
2. morning sickness was hard for me. i was so sick for four months, i lost 20 pounds before i ever started gaining, but eventually at the end of april, i started feeling better. i called drake and made him take me to lunch at wingers so i could filll my starving belly! it was the best meal of my lifetime probably.
3. then we made the decision to move to idaho until january 2014 so i could deliver the baby near my family, and drake could start two semesters at ISU. it was a great decision, although sad to skip a semester at BYU, and we got home just in time for frosty, my favorite mare, to deliver her baby! baby scout was a beautiful all black colt, but had some leg/knee problems for a while that had us all really concerned. thankfully, now he's looking much better and happy!
4. we also adopted a kitten we named Kitty. she was fiesty and fun and adorable! she even got to go on road trips with me to visit kendall!
5. then at five months, we got to find out we were going to be parents to a DAUGHTER! that was such exciting news and i cried at the ultrasound. we were totally convinced we were getting a little boy, but i should have known, girls are waaaay more dominant in my family! it was so exciting to start planning for and imagining our little zenna!
6. the summer was spent living in mccammon as neighbors to my parents and spending A LOT of time with our families. we went to the pool and parades, and i helped my family plant the garden in the backyard. we had some great memories from the time we spent in idaho!
7. then, i spent my FIRST anniversary wedding dress shopping for bailey because she was getting married! and i threw her an awesome bridal shower. we played some pretty funny games....
8. then, of course, bailey did get married and it was beautiful. it was incredible!
10. by this time, i was really really pregnant. bailey took some awesome pictures to remember my "glowing state" haha (jk!) and threw me a baby shower. it was themed around children's books and i loved this idea because i got so many books! that is my favorite thing- i get so happy reading them all! i felt so blessed and spoiled after this night! even kendall made the trip to mccammon so she could share the day with me, and that made me so, so happy!
11. then, FINALLY our little bundle arrived. the delivery was scheduled, but easy and smooth. there was no complications and we were overjoyed to have our very own perfect baby! she was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 21 inches long. she was healthy and beautiful and perfect!
12. we spent most of the next weeks totally in love and fawning over this precious girl. she has brought us so much happiness into our lives! i quit work to spend the two months with her i could before going back to school and basically spend my days taking her pictures :) she was blessed in mccammon and she was absolutely beautiful!
13. and finally, we're enjoying all the winter holidays with her. she is such a blessing and so much fun! we loved spending halloween (where we were farm animals and she was an adorable kitten) with family, and thanksgiving, and we're looking forward to christmas too! we are so so so blessed and happy! 2014 will bring us new exciting memories every day and we can't wait!
