bravo to the byu production of the phantom of the opera!
i bought these tickets myself thinking "what a great date night!" and that's exactly what it turned into. i'm sure drake could have thought of a lot of better things to do than go to a live performance of a musical... but after it all, i think he enjoyed it more than he thought he would. we talked about it for a while afterwords and i was surprised at how much he had to say about it :)
i went with high expectations of my fellow byu students, but i was very surprised at how well it was actually done. i shouldn't have forgotten which university i attend and that there is definitely mass amounts of talent here, especially it seems in the forms of music.
all the transitions were awesome and comparable to the broadway and vegas shows which i've seen. and the talent blew me out of the water! the phantom was truly perfect. he had a big voice and great control that made him sound him angry, jealous, or hurt whenever necessary. i seriously loved every second of his voice. christine was great too, but i thought the men stole most of the glory. raoul was fantastic. he also had the perfect voice for the role. and one of my favorites was carlotta! she rocked those opera high notes and i loved it! overall, i was so very impressed with the awesome show and it was indeed a fantastic date night!
