wednesday, january 22, 2014 was a good day.
it consisted of me waking up at 6:30 am when my alarm went off, and meeting my husband just as he was getting home from working ten hours through the night. he gave me a good morning/goodnight kiss before taking my place next to our baby while she slept. i felt a lot of gratitude for him. he is absolutely willing to do anything for us, and he puts his family first. he loves spending time with his baby girl during the day, and purposefully chose this shift that maximizes his time with her. i'm very blessed to have won this man over for eternity.
then i showered. and it was a good day because i actually had time to wash my hair. mothers will understand this. i absolutely find time to wash my body every day, usually it's while i'm washing zenna's too; i don't always have time to wash my hair. but on good days, i do.
then, i had a quick bagel and cream cheese breakfast (anything with cream cheese makes for a good meal, right?) and made my way to school. because i do the 8:00 am class schedule, i actually always have a parking spot below the RB. class goes good. usually i'm borderline starving during this class because usually i didn't have time to grab breakfast in the morning and my emergency stash of granola bars doesn't usually cut it. but today, i felt full the whole class. i took handwritten notes and actually liked the way they turned out. i love my classes.
i have a two hour break before my next class, and usually this time could be better spent in the library doing homework, because i don't get much done at home, but i decide to go home this time instead to relieve my tired husband and get some ZennaTime before my next class. it's a good day because she is still sleeping when i get home, and that means she's been letting her daddy sleep too. he needs it. then, she wakes up and we play. she coos and smiles and giggles and convinces me to stay home and miss my next class. i feel a moment of guilt, but then i quickly put the important things in perspective. one day of missed class isn't going to hurt me that much in the bigger scheme of things. spending quality time with my baby is what really matters (as long as it doesn't become a habit and ends up wasting my tuition money).
dassia comes over to visit and brings me a coke. yeah, she is amazing. zenna gives her auntie some special time and we watch funny videos online. i make a quick and easy grilled chicken salad that is healthy and satisfying, and we make plans for two fhe nights together. bowling for the first, and hot tubbing at dassia's apartment for the second.
then, sadly daddy must leave for work. but that means it's just me and zenna and all night to hang out. of course, i try to do some homework and catching up, but she only cat naps a few times and monopolies my attention when she's awake. i don't mind at all. we take a lot of pictures on photo booth together and those will last forever. they're another good reminder of what's really important and a reminder of my good day.
i love being a mommy. i love and value my education as well. i want to be a teacher one day and i don't mind putting the work in now. i know i'm a good mother even though i'm doing school too. i know this because that's what my mother did too. i know i can be a good student, and a good mother. and it's days like this that i feel really happy and good about where my life is. it's not complete, it's not where i want to be one day, but it's definitely a good place to be. we're working towards our professional and educational goals and keeping our eternal goals in mind too. i think drake and i are a pretty awesome team together, and i honestly couldn't be happier.
