being sick during pregnancy is not fun in any way, shape, or form. it even sucks all the cool stuff out of what's going on inside of me. well, not completely. but i'll read updates about what's developing in my baby's perfect little body today, and how it's so important that this develops correctly, and important it is to keep myself well-nourished for the baby. . . and then i just worry. how the heck is this baby supposed to get all the important nutrients from me when all i'm eating today is saltine crackers?! i've of course been reassured many times, by many people, that the baby soaks up everything he/she needs somehow and even with a daily puking mother, everything will be okay. so i guess i've felt sick and worried a lot the past three months.
drake made an awesome comment yesterday. he said he knew why the mothers had to be so sick for a while: so that the daddies could learn how to take care of something :) poor guy. he's had to do so much for me. luckily, i'm getting to where i'm feeling better for large chunks of the day, and it's only sometimes that he has to do a lot for me. but i've learned how really selfless that guy is. normally, i handled things like going to the grocery store. i preferred that it was me because then i knew what i needed for meals, and what i had, and where i put it, and how much it cost . . . but he's had to start doing that for us now because walking around a grocery store is too much for my weak, dizzy self. and it usually ends up like this:
day 1: babe. i need more strawberries and grapes and crackers.
day 2: babe, we're out of milk. i literally won't survive tomorrow without breakfast.
day 3: i should just make a list so you don't have to go every day, but i'm out of strawberries. and could you get me some pickles? i need vinegary things.
and this drags on, and the poor guy has to make so many trips (that i'm sure he'd rather not). sometimes i need my arbys fix. sometimes i crave cake. then, i am sick and throw the cake up because anything sugary at all makes me hurl. but he still goes and gets it for me.
i've learned that even though i'm sick, i'm learning a lot about myself and drake. i get a lot of perks. like breakfast in bed, i don't care that he had to buy it. i get to opt out of dishes, making the bed, using chemical cleaners, and a lot more too. drake always steps up and takes care of me. and he never acts annoyed or put-out. whatever i ask for, he does for me.
i love him a lot. he's going to make an amazing daddy. i can't wait until i feel good enough to get the chance to take care of him again.
