i love my job. this week was awesome. the dynamics in the classroom was perfect (less arguing and more sharing) which allowed us to have so much fun. it was superhero week. heck yeah. everyone loves superheros nowadays.
the first thing we did was come up with our own superhero identities. what were our powers? what was our name? who was our arch-enemy? then i had each student lay down on brown paper, and i traced their body as best i could. then, they each designed their costume. they cut out paper and used markers and colored pencils. emery was Death By Fire. and he made the awesome belt and glued it on. i loved it.
then, i printed off some comic-strip layouts and each kid had fun created their own superhero's comic strip. they also made some masks of their superhero and their villian. then, they acted out short skits they made up with their friends. hilarious entertainment.
but the best craft was a pinterest steal. diy jet packs. basically you paint and glue upside down bottles to a small rectangle of cardboard then glue some colored party streamers or crepe paper inside the opening. i took a long piece of duck-tape and folded it in half sticky side together to make their straps which i stapled to the cardboard. this proved to be pretty heavy duty. the kids thought it was pretty sweet themselves. i was amazed at their creativity.

playing with these kids never gets old. it's a good life :)
