all about isla: she's one!

isla is one! 

how did that happen?! the past year flew by so fast- it's a blur!

she is a goofy, cheesy, sassy girl and it was so fun celebrating her!

at her one year appointment she was 33 inches tall (that's four inches taller than "average") and weighed 28 pounds. 

she's been walking since 10 1/2 months trying her best to keep up with her sissy, whom she idolizes. 

and zenna sure loves her too. 

since walking, and losing a little bit of her appetite, she's not putting on the pounds quite like she used to, and her chubby thighs are starting to thin out - 

but on top of all that, she hit a huge growth spurt and is growing longer and longer. 

she wears a size 2T.
also, she's super tan! this girl turned from wintery white to muddy brown in the matter of minutes one afternoon. it was hilarious to see her white lines inside her fat rolls. 

now that she's walking, she's a little monster! into everything, and refusing help from anyone.

she won't sit still, or snuggle on a lap, or behave in audience situations.

she takes two naps, one of them usually being between 2-3 hours.

she still sleeps through the night, but sometimes tricks me into bringing her into bed with me-
usually only if she's teething or not feeling well.

she loves when she's sung to: her favorites are "you are my sunshine" and "we are a happy family"

and now she tries singing along with oohs and coohs- 

she also dances along to most anything she hears.

she has the most dramatic facial expressions when she's trying to communicate, 

and speaks only in a form of grunting and shrieking. 

some of those shrieks are driving me crazy. 

don't even think about eating or drinking anything in front of her without sharing, she'll give out a loud shriek and beg in front of you until you comply with her demands.

she loves all animals. and babies. although she's not quite learned how to be soft yet, but she's working on it. she thinks slapping shows love.

she loves to swim or play in water, and especially loves splashing those around her.

she cracks herself up and giggles at herself in the cutest way. 

she has a goofy, wide-mouthed grin that shows off her eight BIG teeth, and boy- it's cute.

she shows no fear. she loves slides, swinging, jumping into water - its very opposite of her sister who shows great caution with everything.

she keeps us on our feet, but we love every second!

her birthday!

we celebrated with family on two occasions because we had some family visiting from Texas. we made tacos with homemade tortillas and salsa, ate cupcakes, and opened presents. then, the next day we celebrated with the gunter family and ate sloppy joes, smashed a special cake bailey made, and opened more presents. she's pretty spoiled. we like to celebrate with food and family. it was a great weekend!
