another check-up for sweet isla jo:
isla is now a whopping 24 pounds! her little mark on the chart is almost interfering with the chart above it. her head is also off the chart, and so is her height... but non as much as her weight.
i looooooove having fat babies.
she is sitting and SO CLOSE to crawling. she can lean forward and get on all fours, she just
needs to figure out how to move forward.
she does like to roll all over though.
honestly, i think she's close to standing too. she hardly puts any pressure on our fingers when we hold her up, and she loves to practice standing.
she is very interested in food. baby cereal, mashed foods, chunks of banana, chunks of
ANYTHING we're eating. she practically dives out of our arms to get to it.
she still adores her older sister, and is perfectly content as long as zenna is willing to play.
she recognizes music and quickly begins to dance, which is basically rocking back and forth really quickly.
she also likes to play patty-cake and peek-a-boo.
a lot of times when you talk to her and shake your head, she begins shaking her head side to side too.
i think she knows we think this is funny and she likes our reaction.
she is starting to get to where she likes being snuggled and cuddled as she's falling asleep, and i appreciate this since i miss so much of her during the daytime. i want my cuddles!!
she is still more quiet and somber than zenna was, but she is definitely a happy, easy girl.
riddick loves her, and she loves him. she reaches out for him when he walks by,
and he always makes sure to turn around and give her a quick kiss across the face.
we all adore his big wide-open mouth when she smiles and gives kisses. we love her chubby
thighs and wrists. we love her wild, matted hair.
zenna is getting more and more smart each day. she loves pretend play.
she loves talking, talking, talking.
at the basketball game we went to last night, each new person on the end of the rows got a tap on the shoulder, a wave, and a "hi!" before she moved on.
she always gives me kisses, followed quickly by a hug.
she started her first dance class! she was shy at first, but now loves to participate in each part of the class. one day she'll have a tough choice between dance and sports....
a new favorite movie is Tarzan (it's nice having a break from the other regulars)
when she was first watching it, i was working in the kitchen and i heard start screaming and crying,
when i ran out into the front room, i realized she was scared for the baby Tarzan at the beginning when the jaguar is chasing him. she had real tears in her eyes as she reached for the tv and cried out for the "baby! no! baby!"
i sat with her and calmed her down while explaining that the mommy monkey saves the baby and it's all ok. i thought it was such a tender moment and loved seeing her love for other creatures.
she is an adorable sweetheart with a sweet spot for her family.
her younger aunts and uncles are her best friends, she loves her baby cousin brantley, and she screams at full lung capacity when she sees anyone she recognizes.
she is a helper and a joy.
