i remember when i found time during zenna's pregnancy to write about every month and keep updates about every little detail of the pregnancy. i'm glad i did that because it was a new experience and a very special time for a brand new growing family . . . this go around, however, i have way less time (due to working full-time and chasing a toddler 24/7) so the few updates will just have to do. maybe i'll completely ignore my next one :)
overall, this pregnancy has been a lot less of everything. less nausea. less throwing up. less worrying about miscarrying again.
less swelling in this third trimester. less weight gain overall. less backaches and hip-aches. the only thing i have more of: the need to pee. all. the. time.
i am 38 weeks and feeling really good still. other than being completely excited and anxious to meet our newest addition, i could probably last like this a lot longer.
at my last appointment, dr. cox was a little surprised because my belly actually measured a week smaller than it had the previous week. i had somehow shrunk. he thought this either meant she dropped lower and that changed the measurement, or i could be losing fluids which would be potentially dangerous. since he would be gone for my next appointment, he wanted to get an ultrasound to check everything - just in case - so he could take care of anything if it was problematic. i wasn't against getting an ultrasound and a chance to see my cute girl again, so we scheduled an ultrasound for that day.
the ultrasound showed everything was fine, luckily. she is actually measuring BIG. she was measuring half a week bigger than my due date said and already estimated to be about 7 pounds 10 ounces... which is three ounces less than Zenna weighed at birth!! so i could be having a chunker-girl!! also, the profile of her cute little face showed lips that jut out as far as her nose! it was pretty adorable to see. finally, the ultrasound tech said he wasn't sure if he'd seen so much hair on a baby's ultrasound ever before! he kind of pushed off my stomach to create ripples in the fluids and then we watched as her hair floated up off her head on the screen!! i can't wait to meet my chubby little hairy girl!! hopefully it doesn't take two full weeks though!
