idahome

the ending of my winter semester only meant the beginning of a very busy, packed summer/spring course load followed by an even more busy, packed year of interning a class of fourth graders. so i finished all my finals on the first day of finals week, and took off to idaho for the rest of the following week. it would be my one and only decent break before august (which will be equally busy preparing for a classroom!) it was really sad being away from drake that long, but it was a great rejuvenating week with our families!
first of all, we spent time in the sunshine outside with the horses. it is definitely in our future plans to land somewhere where we can raise a mini-farm for the kids. horses, rabbits, chickens, pigs - all favorite parts of my childhood! so of course, we introduced zenna to the horses. the mama horse, frosty, is actually my mare and the last two colts from her have been for my younger siblings to ride one day. eventually, frosty will mother a colt for zenna! (i made her that promise during the week!). best mom award, right?
my favorite picture of great-grandma jill and zenna!
it's safe to say that zenna's papa love this experience too. zenna is riding baby ice here. she has never been formally trained, she just loves people. it's kinda rare for horses to greet you at gates and follow you around.
we also got some time watching josey play soccer. one thing that we will really miss when we're back in idaho is the utah weather. watching a soccer game means enduring the freezing wind. zenna was a trooper, though! the wind didn't phase her at all, she handled it better than the rest of us!
they just don't get much cuter, do they?
we also spent time with the May family. she is the star of the show wherever she goes, and we especially liked the entertainment zenna provides when we pulled out the mirror. she's very into herself and her mirror image right now. she gives her best laughs, squeals, and stories to herself. obviously, her aunt kali and uncle jarik were eating it up, but grandma and grandpa were too!

it was a good break, but now we're happy to be back with daddy. just one more semester until i'm a teacher!
