God is Good

there is no real special reason for this post, other than it's two in the morning and i can't go to sleep and i'm in a writing mood. and other than the very small handful that actually reads this blog, it is more of a journal for me (AND since I accidentally packed all my journals in the storage unit in Provo, i'm feeling a little deprived of recording this whole wedding planning business.) so i guess this post is primarily a journal entry that only i will really appreciate.
today was a really good sunday. i heard from my very dear friend Mike, and a future family member Karl, and my sweet sister Bailey. i also spent the whole day with my handsome husband-to-be. he was the one that mentioned it was going to be May this week... whoa. as much as time is not flying by, it really is. weeks are flying out the window and now that i'm not counting days as desperately as i used to, i'm thinking about it less and less. i guess i'm staying fairly busy with all the last minute wedding stuff. announcements are in the process of being printed and i've been working on "the list" for a while now. the bridal shower is this weekend. it's funny how as a little girl growing up the reception was a. big. deal. but now, i'm finding myself less and less interested in the reception and more and more focused on the real "big deal" of that day. my eternal union to the best man i know.
now, excuse me for a second as i may get a little mushy about this guy i'm dedicating my eternity to... he really is amazing. he's extremely humble and won't ever give himself the credit he deserves, but he has just got things figured out. important things. the really important things. yeah, he's super chill and maybe he hasn't figured everything out as far as school, future career, etc... but the real important stuff: he's so strong and steady. he's always always been the strongest example for me. i love who i am when i have him, and that's the most important thing. and every day gets better and better. i am always seeing more and more how much he values family and helping or serving others; and how he puts everyone before him and how he's such a sweetheart with a soft heart that i absolutely adore. he changes the way i feel about myself to something more than i ever believed about myself before. believe me when i say, i am so so lucky.
amidst all the wedding/financial stresses, today i kind of just took a second to think again Wow, this is real. This is really FINALLY my reality. and i had to take a moment to thank my Heavenly Father for pouring down so many blessings in my life. sure everyone has trials and struggles and hardships, and i have experienced those too, but being granted this kind of happiness for eternity... that just seems too good to be true, and it's not. God is that good. He wants that kind of happiness for us all, and it's simple really to find yourself in awe of how good life really is when you make the right choices and keep the spirit close. what a testimony booster this all is. the ability to fill our hearts with love and the truth of Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness is a huge blessing i'm grateful for in my life right now. and i know there's so much more to look forward to. yeah, God is good.

Okay, so i'm adding on to this original post because i've been feeling a lot of gratitude lately and again, this is my temporary journal, and again... i  apologize for any mushiness haha but i just love this guy so much. so first of all, i've been stressing a little bit about where we were going to room this summer while living in Las Vegas (**woot**woot**) it seemed like our original plans had fallen through and we were looking for an alternate. problem was: money. getting an apartment requires a security deposit ranging from $150 to $500 on top of complexes wanting first months rent paid (an additional $550 to $800). besides the money, most places i looked into weren't offering short-term three month leases. so i was a little discouraged. once again, after taking my problem to the Lord, i was surprised at the help that came almost immediately (this doesn't always happen so fast, but this specific time it did.) it was kinda funny because i finally found a place that was going to be a pretty nice setup. fully furnished. all utilities included. 55 channels of cable. free wifi. only a small $50 deposit... i was liking the situation. i called and got an application. all we needed to do was mail $50 and our spot was reserved. well, literally within a half hour, a get a text from a dear friend informing me that our original plan was still available. what?! this situation is a much preferred situation that i had been looking forward to. there you have it: God dropped two solutions right in my lap and it shouldn't be such a surprise that we were taken care of. i've been feeling very grateful for these blessing the past day or two and wanted to record that.
i've been pondering all the blessings in my life. that's always a humbling experience. we have so much. life in idaho/utah is pretty good. i have a more than comfortable home with a loving and supportive family. there is always an excess of food in our fridge and pantry. i have a cell phone and ample access to many forms of technology. i have amazing friends and an amazing fiance. i have the gospel, and i truly believe that because of the gospel, i have so many of these blessings. my life is happy and free of unwanted circumstances. i know that my Heavenly Father has had a hand in my life and i am so full of gratitude. getting married and being an official on-my-own-for-real-adult is a little bit scary, but as i've just recorded, i know i will be taken care of. i already have been blessed with absolutely amazing opportunity to work in Vegas doing what i love and save a little money for this fall when i'm back in Provo as a newlywed. huge blessing. now our living situation fell into perfect place. in fact, my entire relationship with drake has been that way.... everything just falls into place.
tonight i spent the evening with drake at his family's fhe. it was a cool experience. he did the scripture and listening to him explain his scripture on choice and accountability just reaffirmed what i already know about him. he is a great man. he is the best man i know. he always is searching to do the right thing. he is way to humble to admit how great he is, and i've been trying to convince him for years... but is such a great example to me. he loves people a lot. he is constantly thinking about his family and if there is a way to help them. his mother is always talking about how he just naturally brings their family closer together when he's home. he just has that kind of a way about him. his spirit is so strong. i remember writing in my journal when i was very first getting to know him that his spirit was so strong and caring that i could imagine him as a future bishop. and i just love that about him. i truly believe that is his righteousness and his dedication to the Lord and his past service, and how he influences me to work harder to be a little better that is how we are receiving so many blessings now for our future family. i've just had these impressions pretty strongly for the past day or two and it feels good writing them down. God is Good.
