Feliz Cumpleanos & Merry Day of Love

So back in September, Drake informed me that he was getting a "surprise" together and I should expect it around my birthday (October 25.) I was pretty anxious since sometimes letters and/or tapes can be sparse. In October, he informed me that he hadn't filled the box yet, so I needed to practice more patience (I should have that mastered by now, right?) He decided it would most likely be more like a Birthday/Christmas gift. I was a little bummed, but so excited for my one and only package from my Elder, that I waited happily. Well, December rolled around, and yet again, I was informed it would be a little longer. He discovered how expensive it is sending packages across hemispheres. By this point, all the anxiety had vanished and I was simply going to be thrilled when it did arrive. No counting days necessary.

Finally, in late January, the package arrives!! (in Idaho.) I have to wait, yet even longer, for my mother and sister to drive to Utah before I am finally able to open the package.  So, amazingly, this package has stretched to cover three major gift-giving holidays. I was sitting in the middle seat of the suburban with my mom and Jessica in the front seat. I tear open the box, surprised at it's size, and begin to slowly pull each gift out. I was even more surprised at how much he had gotten me. I am a spoiled girl :) With each new thing my sister acknowledges how "Sierra-ish" everything is. It is obvious how much thought went into each gift. When you haven't been with your guy for nearly two years, this is sure to bring a whirlwind of emotions. There may have been a tear or two shed.

In no particular order, well actually in order to keep Woody for last, I'll start with this decorative plate. It is beautiful and an authentic memorabilia of Chile. Maybe he'll teach me to dance with him :)
Uh, you can't go wrong with some Victoria Secret Very Sexy lotion. This is surely a compliment he's trying to make, right? My first thought was, Where did he get this?! Haha needless to say I was very happy.
I especially liked this item because I instantly recognized it from some pictures I have of him. If I'm not mistaken, this was sewn onto a jacket of his. For whatever mushy reason, I love having this part of him close with me.
See, there it is on his jacket. Also, isn't he the most handsome guy in the world?! Needless to say, this is one of my most favorite pictures from his mission. Ever.
Now for the especially sentimental gifts. The ones he made. He told me he had an investigator who liked making jewelry. He talked about a memory of me dragging him to the Bead Shop in Pocatello to buy beads while I was in a watch/bracelet-making phase and insisting on his help to pick out beautiful beads. The good memories led him to work with his investigator and make me beautiful black, white, and yellow bracelets (the colors ringing a bell?) and gray-ish blue earrings. He thought the earrings would go nicely with my eyes. This guy is amazing.

And boy oh boy did he send me candy!! The whole bottom of the box was filled with different assortments of cookies, bon bons, and chewy candies. I've experimented with many but I don't think I'll ever be able to finish them, there's too much!
There was also some great staples for my wardrobe. Every time I pulled out a new shirt or scarf, my sister would ooh or ahh  while saying, "That is so Sierra." Probably 88% of my wardrobe consists of black, white, or varying shades of gray. He of course, knows this and was spot-on in his selections. I love this man.

Now this is where it gets good. Or bad. Depending on your perspective.

One of my first items pulled from the package shocked me, to say the least. I'll go into story mode here: I pulled the next gift wrapped in a plastic baggy out of the package. I slowly unwrapped the gift noticing it looked similar to a wooden tiki figurine. Then, I suddenly dropped the tiki-man letting  out a sound somewhere between a gasp and a yell. I felt the blood rushing to my face. My hands flew to cover my gaping my mouth. What has he sent me?! My missionary sent this to me? Is he trying to be funny? Yes, he thinks he's being funny.  So many shocked things raced through my mind. Jessica, who's attention had been drawn by my outcry, asked to see the gift. I hurled myself over the box covering the gift. "No! Nobody can see this!" But, by this point, I was cracking up. Hysterically. I simply couldn't believe what I had just seen. Jessica reached into the back seat and grabbed the tiki-man pulling him forward to her lap. But something looked different. He had lost something. He wasn't so rated-XXX anymore. Then, she figured out the trick and slowly lifted his head from his body once. Then several times in repetition. She was laughing hard now too. And my mother, who at first was shocked also, was laughing too. There were tears swimming in my eyes. I still could not believe what I was seeing,  or that my missionary had sent it to me. Okay, the suspense has been hopefully built. Take a look at my tiki-man:
 Harmless, right? Wrong.
Use your imagination. You can understand my shock.

The story gets better. My mother went home and told my father what I had received. His response was, "So he's officially sent her a woody, then?" Haha. He's a funny daddy. Hence, the name for my tiki-man has evolved into Woody, the Freaky Tiki. I am quite fond of his name. Although, I'm a little hesitant as to where I should keep him in the apartment. Out in the open seems like a major risk. You never know what the Home Teachers will pick up if they're reminded of their own mission...

Well, there you have it. My Birthday/Christmas/Valentine's Day package from my Drake was amazing. It also came with a tape (my absolute favorite so far) and a letter that once again, made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. At this point, there is 5 weeks left before we're reunited. I couldn't be more anxious and excited. The rest of my life with this incredible man is about to begin and I could not ask for a better fairytale. I love you Elder Christopher Drake May!
